Alberta Security Infrastructure Program (ASIP)

The Alberta Security Infrastructure Program provides funding to help eligible organizations improve their security. SMA Security Management & Associates assists applicants by delivering qualified security risk assessments (SRAs) that meet ASIP requirements.

Program Overview and Eligibility

ASIP offers funding for risk assessments, planning, equipment, and training for organizations that serve identifiable groups vulnerable to hate or bias-motivated incidents. Eligible applicants include registered charities, not-for-profits, faith-based institutions, private schools, community facilities, and shelters.

The program has multiple categories. Category A supports professional security risk assessments, Category B covers planning, infrastructure, and training, and Category C supports immediate response measures. Funding amounts vary by category, with typical maximums of $10,000 for assessments and $35,000 for planning and training combined.

Organizations require a qualified service provider to complete the professional assessment and related documentation. This is where SMA provides essential support.

Qualified and Certified Provider

Qualified and Certified Provider

SMA is a registered corporate entity that meets ASIP’s definition of a qualified service provider. All work is supervised by the lead consultant, who holds the NICP CPD certification, one of the program’s recognized credentials.

This qualification allows SMA to conduct the professional security risk assessment required under Category A of the ASIP grant. The lead consultant’s experience with ISO 22341 and CPTED principles ensures that all deliverables align with accepted standards.

The lead consultant also holds the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) credential, which supports a well-rounded understanding of how physical and digital security risks interact and influence overall organizational resilience.

How SMA Helps

SMA helps organizations determine whether they may be a good fit for the ASIP program by reviewing their situation, facility type, and overall risk concerns. This early guidance gives applicants a clearer sense of how Category A may apply and what information they should prepare before starting the process.

SMA can assist applicants with the paperwork involved in applying to the ASIP program. This includes helping interpret what the forms are asking for, organizing the required details, and ensuring that the submission is clear, accurate, and complete.

SMA also provides the professional security risk assessment required under Category A. The lead consultant conducts a structured evaluation of threats, vulnerabilities, and site-specific conditions and prepares the formal assessment document needed for inclusion in the application package.
